Sustainable Renovations

An OCON Built home incorporates clever, sustainable design practices with high quality materials and exceptional finishes. We are passionate about helping you to achieve your dream home and ensuring it meets the requirements of modern living.

This light filled extension was designed by local architects Designful Studio with a brief to maximise the living spaces whilst considering thermal efficiency and sustainable material choices. The extension incorporates multiple sustainable features whilst honouring and blending with the existing era of the original home. This project included the upgrade and extension of the main dwelling to better accommodate daily life and entertaining, along with an external workshop to support the needs of the extended family.

This build maximises natural light through the use of passive solar design, energy efficient and sustainable materials. These durable and simple choices compliment the early 20th century character of the original home.

This build features a stunning light filled main living space, large sliding glass doors open out to an indoor outdoor entertaining deck.

This use of passive solar energy combined with new uPVC double glazed windows help ensure thermal efficiency in this stunning entertaining/living space.

Locally sourced Tasmanian Oak flooring is paired with recycled Hobart red bricks. Reclaimed from the demolition, these were repurposed for the new extension and workshop.

The straw-coloured external cladding gives a beautiful contrast to the red bricks which will fade to a soft grey over time.

Successful and sustainable renovations and extensions require a holistic approach. Careful selection of materials, and a consideration of the endurance of these materials can influence sustainability over the lifetime of your home.

From your initial design, through to the environmental impact of construction, to the final product, we can ensure your home delivers your goals.

At OCON Built we understand your desire to achieve a beautiful, efficient and sustainable home and are ready to assist.

Extension includes two new bedrooms, new bathroom, internal stair, large open plan living space and kitchen, laundry refurbishment, external deck and workshop.
